"Insight into Symbolism" is a fun, thought provoking sourcebook filled with a variety of activities and lessons that engages the learner beyond the pages and starts opening up to the world of symbols all around them. Although the lessons best fit seventh to tenth grade, I found myself thinking about symbolism throughout the various roles I play as a educator.

As soon as I opened “Insight into Symbolism”, I was drawn into a fascinating world of study. It made me think of how many old symbols are in our modern culture of today! I found the cinema arts spotlight especially interesting, a real “eye opener” about the creative manipulation of things as simple as shadows, angles and colors and how these elements shape a viewer’s thoughts when watching a movie. I also enjoyed this book because it is presented in a direct simple easy to understand manner open for any reader to enjoy, no matter what their learning level is.
